Privacy policy

Updated September 4, 2026. Published by Nicholas Welch-Bauer.

Your game data

Munchlight saves your progress, coins, lives, boosters, stickers, scores, reward dates, purchase entitlements, and sound and haptic preferences to run the game. It also saves suspended puzzles so you can resume them. You do not create a separate Munchlight account.

iCloud and local saves

Your profile is stored on your device and mirrored through Apple’s iCloud key-value storage when available. That profile includes purchase transaction identifiers and credited rewards, which help prevent duplicate purchase credits, and subscription expiry information. The app uses your Apple account’s iCloud storage to keep progress consistent across devices. Suspended puzzle boards are saved locally and are not synced by the app. Device backups may include local app data.

Game Center

When you are signed in to Game Center, Munchlight sends completed daily-puzzle times and highest completed levels to Apple’s leaderboards. Scores are associated with your Game Center identity and can appear with your nickname and avatar to other players. The app does not require Game Center to play. You can manage Game Center sign-in and sharing through Apple’s device settings. Apple’s Game Center privacy information.

Purchases

Apple processes in-app payments. Munchlight uses Apple’s StoreKit transaction verification to deliver purchases, restore eligible entitlements, and check Lantern Club subscription status. The app does not receive your payment-card details. Purchase identifiers, credited items, and entitlement information are kept in your saved profile. Apple retains its own purchase records under its policies.

Level downloads and generated content

The app may download new level packs from Apple’s CloudKit public database and cache them on your device. This download does not upload your saved profile or puzzle board. Levels can also be generated on your device. Bundled artwork, music, and other prepared content do not require sending your gameplay or personal information to an AI service.

Crash reports

Munchlight uses Firebase Crashlytics to receive crash reports and limited diagnostic information needed to find and fix app failures. Reports can include a random installation identifier, app and operating system versions, device model, crash time, stack traces, and relevant application state. Reports are not used for advertising or cross-app tracking. We do not attach saved games, purchase transaction identifiers, Game Center identity, or messages you enter. Google states that Crashlytics retains crash traces and associated identifiers for 90 days before beginning deletion from live and backup systems. Firebase privacy information.

Advertising and analytics

Munchlight uses Firebase Analytics to understand whether players complete the tutorial and levels, where level difficulty causes failures or life gates, which boosters are useful, and whether shop visits lead to completed purchases. Events can include the level and chapter, game mode, reward or practice status, failure type, stars, elapsed time, booster type, and public product identifier. Firebase also measures app sessions and completed StoreKit purchases, including product name and price, and derives an approximate region from a masked IP address. This does not use Location Services or trigger a location permission prompt. Analytics advertising storage, advertising personalization, user IDs, IDFA, IDFV, automatic screen reporting, and cross-app tracking are disabled. We do not send saved puzzle boards, purchase transaction identifiers, Game Center identity, support messages, or other free-form text. Firebase Performance Monitoring is not included. The app contains no advertising and does not sell your data. It does not request access to your contacts, device location, camera, or microphone. Apple’s iCloud, Game Center, and App Store services process data under Apple’s own terms and privacy practices.

Storage and your choices

Game data is retained to preserve progress, resume puzzles, and honor purchases. The app currently has no separate in-app control for deleting iCloud saves or Game Center records. Manage available iCloud, Game Center, and subscription choices through Apple’s device and account settings. Removing the app does not cancel a subscription or guarantee removal of records held by Apple. The app’s Settings controls music, sound effects, and haptics.

Support website

These public pages are hosted by GitHub Pages. GitHub may process technical request information, including IP addresses, to deliver and secure the website. See GitHub’s privacy statement. These pages do not add analytics, advertising, or tracking scripts.

Policy updates

This policy describes the current app. The policy and its updated date will change if the app’s data practices change.
